About us
Sourashtra College for Women, affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, is managed by the Sourashtra College Council, (Linguistic Minority) a Philanthropic Association dedicated to Higher Education. Impelled by an urge to impart Women Education at all levels in Arts & Science inspired by a ‘Strong Benevolence of Soul’ the members of the Sourashtra College Council have raised the magnificent buildings of the college on the Pasumalai Hill. The splendid location of the college affords a panoramic view of the temple of Lord Muruga at Thirupparankundram and provides an excellent atmosphere.
The College started functioning on 19.08.1998 in a temporary building, and the newly constructed permanent building was formally inaugurated on 23.09.2000 by the then Governor of Tamilnadu, Her Excellency Justice Selvi. Fatima Bivi.
